Crevecoeurs, which originated in Normandy, are thought to be the oldest French breed. All of their feathers are lustrous, greenish black. They are a very rare crested variety, and Ideal is one of only a few hatcheries to produce this breed. They have a V-shaped comb, muffs and a beard. They are non-sitters and lay medium-sized white eggs. They are one of the most distinguished looking of all breeds, and because of their striking beauty are an excellent choice as an exhibition breed.
